MetaDefender OT Security v3.7: Critical Improvements to Deployment Options, Health Monitoring, Asset Information, and Overall Performance

For plant engineers, SOC analysts or OT security engineers, a critical aspect of network monitoring and stability is having complete visibility into assets hiding in the most remote corners of their network. In addition to that, they also need to have in-depth details into the type, make, IP, vendor, criticality of said assets for clear reporting and network management.

MetaDefender OT Security v3.7 introduces a set of enhancements focused on deeper asset intelligence, improved network visibility, and more flexible deployment. This release strengthens how security teams detect risk, understand device behavior, and manage distributed OT environments at scale.

Deeper Asset Intelligence and Detection

V3.7 enhances vulnerability detection and device profiling across critical OT assets. CVE detection for Siemens and Moxa devices has been improved, enabling more accurate risk identification in industrial environments where these vendor devices are commonly deployed.

Device enrichment has also been expanded through multiple protocols. CIFS (Common Internet File System) now provides server and OS-level details, while S7COMM enables extraction of key identifiers such as hostname, CPU type, and serial number. Additional enrichment from HTTP (user agent data) and TTL improves OS and device type identification, giving teams a more complete asset inventory without network or process disruption.

Improved Network Visibility and Context

OT security teams need to understand how devices interact in critical environments. This release introduces device link mapping, allowing users to visualize and summarize communication paths between assets. These links can also be incorporated into Report Builder for better analysis and reporting.

Further network context is added through extraction of outer and inner VLAN information for connections, helping teams better segment and analyze traffic flows across complex environments.

Centralized Management Enhancements

Enterprise Manager capabilities have been expanded to improve operational oversight. Users can now view misconfigurations and update history across all sensors in a centralized interface, making it easier to track changes, ensure compliance, and respond to issues faster.

Flexible Deployment and Secure Connectivity

MetaDefender OT Security 3.7 introduces greater flexibility in deployment and network configuration. Teams can now define custom routes for networks and subnets, enabling better integration into complex OT architectures.

Additionally, proxy configuration is now supported, allowing secure internet access via Enterprise Manager without exposing internal networks.

Expanded Coverage and Usability

Support for Moxa devices has been added to Smart Asset Profiling, expanding visibility into commonly deployed industrial equipment.

This release of MetaDefender OT Security 3.7 takes it a step above asset discovery to deliver context that helps teams understand not just what exists in their environment, but how it behaves and where risks lie. With deeper protocol-level insights, improved detection, and flexible deployment options, organizations can move from reactive security to informed, proactive defense.
